Track 17: Laser Treatments and Phototherapy

Sub-tracks of

Laser Treatments and Phototherapy

Laser treatments and phototherapy have revolutionized modern dermatologic practice, offering precise, minimally invasive, and highly effective options for the management of a broad spectrum of skin disorders. By harnessing the power of light and energy-based technologies, these modalities enable targeted intervention at specific skin depths and structures, minimizing collateral damage and promoting faster recovery.

Laser therapy utilizes selective photothermolysis to treat vascular lesions, pigmented disorders, scars, tattoos, and unwanted hair, as well as to rejuvenate aging skin. Advances in laser technology—such as fractional, picosecond, and ablative/non-ablative systems—have significantly improved efficacy, safety, and patient satisfaction. Customizable parameters now allow clinicians to tailor treatments based on individual skin types, conditions, and desired outcomes.

Phototherapy, including narrowband UVB, PUVA, and excimer laser treatments, remains a cornerstone in managing chronic inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases such as psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. The therapeutic effects are mediated through modulation of immune responses, induction of apoptosis in pathogenic T cells, and regulation of cytokine activity.

Ongoing innovations in light-based treatments—such as photodynamic therapy, low-level light therapy (LLLT), and combination regimens—continue to expand the therapeutic horizon of dermatology.

The session on Laser Treatments and Phototherapy will convene experts, clinicians, and researchers to share advancements in laser physics, clinical applications, safety protocols, and future directions. Participants will gain comprehensive insights into evidence-based practices, patient selection criteria, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies for optimal therapeutic and aesthetic outcomes.
