Track 15: Acne, Rosacea, and Sebaceous Gland Disorders

Acne, Rosacea, and Sebaceous Gland Disorders

Acne, rosacea, and other sebaceous gland disorders represent some of the most common and impactful dermatologic conditions, affecting individuals across diverse age groups and ethnic backgrounds. These disorders, though often chronic and multifactorial, can significantly influence patients’ physical appearance, emotional well-being, and quality of life. Understanding their complex pathophysiology is essential for developing targeted and effective management strategies.

Acne vulgaris, one of the most prevalent skin diseases worldwide, arises from the interplay of increased sebum production, follicular hyperkeratinization, Cutibacterium acnes proliferation, and inflammation. Rosacea, a chronic inflammatory disorder of the facial skin, involves vascular dysregulation, innate immune dysfunction, and microbial imbalance, manifesting with persistent erythema, papules, pustules, and telangiectasia. Other sebaceous gland disorders, such as seborrheic dermatitis and sebaceous hyperplasia, further underscore the importance of sebaceous activity in maintaining cutaneous homeostasis.

Advances in dermatologic research have led to novel therapeutic innovations, including selective anti-inflammatory agents, hormonal modulators, retinoid derivatives, and microbiome-targeted treatments. Laser and light-based therapies, as well as personalized skincare regimens, have also emerged as valuable adjuncts in clinical practice.

The session on Acne, Rosacea, and Sebaceous Gland Disorders will feature distinguished experts and researchers who will present cutting-edge findings in disease mechanisms, precision therapeutics, and integrative management. Participants will gain insights into evidence-based treatment protocols, evolving technologies, and multidisciplinary approaches designed to optimize patient care and long-term outcomes.
